About Me

about me

My name is Sue Burgess. I started hatha yoga while still at university and studied it for 15 years in Australia, London and Singapore. However, demands of moving, having children and difficulties in finding a teacher led me to give it up for a few years. During the time when I was studying yoga, I also learnt Transcendental Meditation, a practice I have continued for 28 years.

I came back to yoga 10 years ago and found it even more satisfying than it had been the first time. At first my body groaned and refused to do asanas that I remembered doing easily in my youth. But gradually, over the years, I have found that strength and flexibility have returned. Of course, the practice is different – but being aware and accepting what is happening in your body is part of yoga.

Over the last 10 years, I have enjoyed doing Satyananda, Iyengar and Swastha yoga, and these have all influenced my practice.

In 2006/2007 I studied for the International Yoga Teachers Association teacher training course certificate which deepened my understanding of the practice even further. I taught yoga privately in Singapore, and now look forward to new opportunities to share my long experience of yoga with others in Hong Kong.

My intention in teaching yoga is to help you feel terrific after every class, and gradually have this feeling extend into your life.
